Oregon Pacific Bank is proud to partner again with the University of Oregon’s Lundquist College of Business to launch the Winter 2026 Commercial Banking Immersion, a seven-week, cohort-based learning experience designed to give high performing students exposure to real world commercial banking.
This program brings together academic foundation and hands on application. Students selected from Professor Roger Busse’s Commercial Banking course will work directly with OPB professionals, applying classroom concepts to realistic scenarios modeled after true banking situations. Throughout the immersion, participants will meet weekly with Oregon Pacific Bank leaders, gaining insight into relationship banking, credit structuring, risk evaluation, and the art of building solutions that help businesses and nonprofits thrive.
Using a detailed case study, student teams will develop a comprehensive credit memo—complete with borrower analysis, financial projections, compliance considerations, and a recommended loan structure. At the conclusion of the immersion, students will present their recommendations to OPB’s credit leadership team. Those who complete the program earn a microcredential recognizing their applied industry experience.
An interdepartmental lineup of OPB leaders will participate across the seven weeks—from Finance and Operations to Trust & Wealth Management, Compliance, and HR—so students see how the whole bank works together to serve clients and communities.
As Oregon’s community bank for what matters most, we believe strongly in mentorship, local decision-making, and the power of relationships to shape careers. This partnership helps students understand what makes OPB unique, and how community banking can create meaningful impact in Oregon.
Follow along for weekly highlights, insights from OPB mentors, and behind-the-scenes snapshots from the Winter 2026 cohort.
